Governance, Procedures & Policies

Parish Councils were established as the first tier of local government in 1894 to take over local oversight of civic duties in rural towns and villages.

West Hatch Parish Council discharges its duties and powers within the law and according to a governance framework defined by various statutory Government directives including the Local Government Act 1972, the Localism Act 2011 (Overview) and the Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities. Parish Council policies are reviewed annually and as necessary.

Further documents relating to governance, policies and procedures applying to the Parish Council will be published from time to time and can be referenced below.
