Village Hall Events – September, October 2022

West Hatch Village Hall (TA3 5RJ) – Autumn/Winter Events

Monday, September 12th (11am – 12pm) – Chair Yoga at West Hatch Village Hall, suitable for those with balance problems, hip/knee replacements, arthritis etc, involving gentle stretching of muscles, creating greater mobility, building strength and easing pain. The trainer has a wealth of experience in this work. The cost per session will be £10.  Bring your own cushion if required.

Note: We currently have two other regular Yoga sessions: Mondays 12.30pm-1.30pm; Tuesdays 7pm-8pm held in the village hall. The costs vary slightly depending on the tutor but work out less than £10 per hour. Payments are direct to the tutor.

Saturday, 17th September – Canal boat trip from Somerset Boat Centre at North Newton on the Taunton/Bridgwater Canal, from 6pm to 9pm. Cost is £15 per person with option of fish & chips (£10 extra). Places limited to 12 people only. Cost payable to the Village hall in advance by BACS.  Book in advance to secure your place.

Saturday, 24th September – Emergency First Aid (10am-1pm) – include use of a defibrillator and a general introduction to First Aid with practical and hands on opportunities. We will cover choking, shock, external bleeding, casualty not breathing and minor injuries. Manikins and use of a defibrillator are included.

First Aid for Animals (2pm-5pm) – covering checking for a pulse, treatment for poisoning, wounds and bleeding, dealing with common injuries to eyes and ears and safe transportation to the vet.

Each class limited to 12 persons – £15 per session

Monday, 26th September – Book Club (Mondays on 4th week of each month), 7.30pm-9.30pm in West Hatch Village Hall. A wide range of easy-read books of different genres will be discussed in an informal way. £2 per person per session will be charged towards village hall funds. Maximum of 10 participants.

Saturday, 1st October – Card making (10.30am-1pm).  You can create notelets using a photograph of your own choice.  £5 for the session for the first five cards and £1 per additional card thereafter.  This session will be in aid of St Andrew’s Church. Donations of a minimum @ £5 per person.

Saturday, 15th October (6.30pm for 7pm start) – Pop-up Restaurant in West Hatch Village Hall – three course Thai meal with BYO drinks.  The charge per head will be £35. The meal will include starters – prawn crackers and a Thai chicken soup.  Thai vegetable green curry and Thai chicken red curry, with rice, will be the main dishes.  A traditional Thai dessert will follow the meal.  Jas Plested and her team cook everything freshly on the day to create a special meal for us.  Payment in advance via BACs to the village hall is required.

Halloween evening for our young people and children (October 29th from 5pm) with pumpkin decorating, apple pressing, and games in the village hall.  Put the date in your diary!

Other activities (dates, details to be confirmed) include: Wreath-making (end of November); Flower-arranging course; Cake decorating; Mulled wine and food in the village hall after the Christingle service in the church; Music evening or barn dance; Quiz night and a presentation of the Millenium Books that were devised and developed by Carole Howie.
